The Fonteyn Bursaries
The RAD operates a bursary scheme in support of applicants to the Fonteyn. Information about bursary provision for 2020 will be announced in December.
For the scheme, candidates are required to demonstrate:
- that they are likely to achieve the necessary eligibility criteria for The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition,
- evidence of personal characteristics desirable in a dancer, and
- evidence to suggest how the bursary will make a difference to their likelihood to apply to compete in The Fonteyn.
Dame Margot Fonteyn Scholarship Fund bursary
Created thanks to a donation from the Dame Margot Fonteyn Scholarship Fund, this scheme is open to any individual from any country wishing to compete in the Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition.
The Dame Margot Fonteyn Scholarship Fund was established following the death of Margot Fonteyn in 1991 and exists to provide scholarships and prizes to vocational dance students in need of financial support and to promote interest in and appreciation of ballet as an art form.
The bursary is a fixed sum of £1,500.
